Voluntary standards
Code of Conduct for registrants
Registration on the Academy of Prehospital Practitioners is voluntary. Registrants agree to this code as a condition of using the MAppD or MAppE post-nominal, so that the public can rely on accurate and responsible use of the designation.
The code sets out the standards expected of every practitioner on the register. It is a statement of professional accountability, not a statutory licence or a regulator's accreditation.
Three core standards
What every registrant commits to
Standard 1
Scope of competency
Practise strictly within the scope of your PHEM Level D or Level E competency. Do not undertake procedures or decisions beyond that training.
Standard 2
Accurate representation
Use the MAppD or MAppE post-nominal only as granted. Do not present registration as a statutory licence, regulator approval or accreditation.
Standard 3
Ethical patient care
Put patient welfare first, act with honesty, and keep professional conduct consistent with the duty of care owed to every person you treat.
Condition of registration
Registrants agree to practise within this code.
Holding MAppD or MAppE is conditional on continued adherence to these standards. Concerns about conduct may be raised with the Academy, which will consider them under its voluntary framework.
